The daughter of a good friend was moving this week and asked if I would like a free dresser. Umm…heck yeah!
If it looks familiar, it because I finished it’s sister here, for the same daughter’s wedding this past summer.
And here it is all gussied up.
Using my new favorite paint gun (which I’ll share later), I sprayed 2 coats of a rich teal, almost emerald paint over the drawer faces and dresser body.
I mixed the same paint color with some Simply White to lighten it, taped, and brushed on the stripes.
After some light distressing, I sealed everything with 3 coats of my favorite, Minwax Polyacrylic in satin, and attached some fancy new hardware.
I’m normally not a “bling” kind of girl, but the girly, scalloped details of this piece asked for something special.
Photos can’t capture the intensity of this color. Its a tad darker, and bit more green in real life.
I love it! So rich!
This was my first attempt with stripes. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
What do you think? Have you tried stripes before? How’d they turn out?

I love the teal! I haven't done stripes on furniture before (yet). 🙂 I have a dresser we're going to make into a bath vanity and I'm trying to come up with ideas for that…hmmmm…
Happy Friday!

I did stripes on one of my first pieces. The body was a very very pale grey (I might as well say white) and I used an aqua to do the stripes and then glazed them a little. Here's the link to the post I did on it. (http://thepaintedcottagesc.blogspot.com/2013/05/missed-week-but.html) I loooved it but the person who bought it wanted me to repaint it a sage color which made me sad but hey, it's not my furniture!

This is gorgeous! I'm especially drawn to it because teal is a favorite color of mine. I'm also loving the two different types of hardware you've used. I HAVE tried stripes before on an old dresser (one of my top viewed posts) Unfortunately, I had to sell it because I have no more space! Thank you so much for sharing your talent. Pinning for future inspiration.
Blessings,
Patti
